Rose and Cucumber Witch Hazel, Asprin Toner Recipe:
1 empty 2.5 bottle- I used an old bottle of Neutrogena Healthy Skin Face Lotion, which has a pump.
1 1/4 oz. Thayers Alcohol Free Rose Petal Witch Hazel
1 1/4 oz. Thayers Alcohol Free Cucumber Witch Hazel with Organic Aloe Vera
5 325 mg. uncoated Aspirin (2- 325 mg. aspirin per ounce of Witch Hazel)
1/2 tsp. warm water
1 disposable, paper bathroom cup
In the disposable bathroom cup drop in your 5 aspirin and your warm water. Mix the aspirin around a bit with your finger or clean spoon. To the aspirin paste add about 1/2 of either of the witch hazel blends. You just want enough liquid so that it is easy to pour. Bend your paper cup to form a sort of spout and carefully pour the mixture into your empty bottle. Add the rest of the witch hazel blends and shake it up. All done!
When you use the toner just pump a bit on to your fingers and dab on your face. If you would like you can then come back and wipe your face with a cotton pad. Applying the toner directly to the cotton pad wastes your product, because it is absorbing in the pad and not going on your face.

How long does this toner keep for Tiffany?
Should one only make a small batch and refill regularly so that the asprin is fresh? (if it goes stale at all that is)
Hi again! I did some digging around and judging from the info I found...I think it would be fine to make this stuff up in big batches if you would like to. You just need to mark your bottle with the expiration date of the aspirin or the witch hazel. Mark which ever date comes first. As far as the aspirin goes, even though we are melting the aspirin down it still contains the same properties as it did in the pill form, we're just taking it to the liquid form. Children's Tylenol is pretty much the same principal. Think about it this way...When we take an aspirin orally we take it with water. Then the aspirin dissolves and is absorbed into our bloodstream. So, if we dissolve the aspirin into a bottle it will not be absorbed and the properties will stay in the bottle until we are ready to use it. Just another bit, Thayers Witch Hazel contains Citric Acid, which is used as a natural preservative. Sorry for such a long comment, but I like to let you know it all. Thanks for your clear and thorough explanations Tiffany. I've run out of asprin and have to go out and pick some later this week. We don't have Tayler's down in Australia, so I'll have to use another witch hazel toner to make this (does the Tayler one contain alcohol?)
